Chinese New Year !!!

Feb 14, which is Valentines Day for most ppl, but for me, it's more towards Chinese New Year.
The CNY was the festival that i always looked forward to in a year with many reasons..main ones being that i get to be together with families for a few consecutive days as they would be busy doing business during the rest of the year and also the only time of the year where i get to meet up with most of my relatives.
Good food and friends gathering were also the highlights for me during CNY not forgetting "Red Packet" from relatives and families.
CNY has since transformed from my favourite days in a year to a "not so looking forward to" one since my stay in Australia 5 years ago.
I have only return to Penang once for CNY in that 5 years and again i will be celebrating my new year here in Brisbane this time.
We dont see much decoration or the "red atmosphere" or should i say non at all over here for CNY except in China Town and hugely Chinese populated areas. So basically life goes on as normal while friends and families are celebrating back in Malaysia:(

Basically,my 2010 CNY can be sum up in 3 sentences:
Friday: I will have my early "reunion dinner" with colleagues in a chinese restaurant for our office's cny dinner.
Saturday: probably go get some good food in China Town on new year eve
Sunday: new year lunch with friends & this is it:)
might sound empty to many ppl..:P
The lucky thing is that i do not have to work on the first day of chinese new year both this and last year as they coincidentally fall on either a public holiday or on a weekend.(was Australian Day Last year)

Wishing everyone a Roaring Tiger New Year!!
新年快乐

5th Year in Aussie

Fresh from my wonderful Penang Holidays..Year 2010 would also mark my 5th year venture into the land of Australia
I would expect the next couple of weeks to be extremely busy as work would hav piled up when i left for Penang and i would be moving hse as well after 2 yrs staying in my current town hse(my longest stay in a single place since my arrival onto Brisbane)..Moving home would also meant alot of cleanings and rearrangement of items to be done.

I have also started to play Facebook.. long after many ppl hv started, would expect to be posting more photos there once i am free frm all the above burdens.
Hope 2010 would be a wonderful, prosperous and healthy year for all of us. Cheers

The "Awesome 4"

Finally have some spare time to put something in my blog again..with my third CPA exam and the busiest part of work behind me, looks like this would be the period of the year again where i would get to rejoice myself before gearing up for another new year in my life.
Come November.. i have officially stepped into the 18 months(not years..hehe) of my accounting career, very true that the society and work place is filled with all kinds of ppl.. and here i would like to share the four special ones while linking them to a fantasy character.
I am sure many of us would have or will come across these four kinds of personnel in their life.
Note: this posting is based on my personal point of view and has absolutely no intention to go against anyone wat so ever.

Personnel No 1: "Batman" the hidden good guy

He or she is kind of "popular" in her area, gentle enough to help everyone up.. whether its work items or private matters.
He is smart and hardworking and would more than capable of performing his or her own allocated task.
But the help or effort from "Batman" is often forgotten or not being appreciated.
People would just keep asking this person for help taking his or her kindness for granted. He would always be the hidden hero of the area. Just like Batman..popular but always in the dark.

Personnel No 2>> Pikachu the glowing star

This person may not be as smart or as capable compare to the first one but they are as frindly and hardworking.
Everyone would just feel happy and comfortable with this person.
Small effort and a little hard work from this person will go a long way and much appreciated by others. So would be like giving 10% but receiving 50% of recognition.
Just like Pikachu.. a tiny little cute character that are able to outshined other more powerful Pokemons.

Personnel No 3>> Darth Vader the most love evil chracter

Wouldn't be wrong to say Darth Vader is the most popular character in the ever popular "Star Wars" series even though he is evil.
We seriously do not see much evil character who grew to such fame. I guess a long introduction would not be needed for this personnel. Of course he is not that kind, not popular.. and always gives us a cold shoulder.
But.. a BIG "but".. he excelled in the most important area, he is more capable than any other person in the work place and this would also forced the boss to swallow this bitter pill even knowing he is a hard person to handle.Sad:(

Personnel No 4 Suneo the most hated

I hope many of us would still remember this character in the Doraemon anime.
He is stingy, not productive, complains about everything and jealous at wat ever good things you have.
So beware of this person.

Please also vote for your favourite character in my poll..

P.S: the next big thingy that i would be looking forward to will be my trip back to Penang in mid December.. hopefully i would be able to catch up with my old pals tht time.. goin off nw:)

"Time Flies so Fast" Take a moment to Pause

I have just came across this poem while reading "Fitness First" Magazine that i have picked up after my gym work out.. one particular reading really catches me n hence i would like to share>>

"Imagine there is a bank that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. And every evening it deletes whatever part of the balance yo failed to use during the day." What would you do? Every1 of us has such a Bank. It's called TIME. Every morning it credits you with 86,400 seconds. And every nite it writes off, as lost, whatever portion you have failed to invest in good purpose. There is no going back. There is no drawing against the "tomorrow".
To realise the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.
To realise the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mum who gave birth to premature baby.
To realise the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a magazine.
To realise the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
To realise the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed a train.
To realise the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an accident.
To realise the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won the silver medal at Olympic Games.

The clock is running. Make most of today. Treasure every moment that you have. Treasure every person you spend your time with. And remember that time waits for no one.
Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift.
And that is why it is called the "present".
