With Xmas and the new year eve jst around the corner, its that time of the year again where everyone starts building up their mood towards welcoming a better and
prosperous(chinese style :p) new year. As for me, yr 2008 would always be remembered as one of those really good if not best year ever for me. Things have been running really smoothly for me throughout this wonderful year..Thank GOD
Since a few of my fellow bloggers have posted their "favourite moments in 08" or "best event of the year", i think i might just take this opportunity to post my own version of the "Top 5 Happenings in Year 2008".
1. Political Tsunami in the March 8 Malaysia Election
Barisan National, the ruling coalition of Malaysia since its independence received their biggest setback in an election. Losing their 2/3 majority in parliament which they have held for decades and also the control of 5 states plus one federal territory to opposition including key ones like Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
2. The burst of bubbles in USA's economy
I think many would have predicted this, but it seems to have come sooner than later. Let's just hope that the world would come out of this as soon as possible.
3. Wrath of mother nature in Sze Chuan, China.
Once again human beings have been made tiny by the wrath of nature. Thousands were killed and miilions more made homeless by the greatest catastrophe since the tsinami a few years back.
4. 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing
The first olympic ever held by a chinese country. China have also taken this opportunity to show the world who is the real "Big Brother" in the world of sport.
5. Political unrests in Thailand
I thought of putting the taiwan issue here but i think the one in Thai is worth a little bit more attention than the one in Taiwan. It all started with marches then snow ball to big demonstration and then to the "kidnapped" of the entire Bangkok Airport, all just to force the Prime Minister to step down. I think they must be really brave to do so.
